Between the high Tibetan plateau and the rice fields of the Sichuan Province in Western China lies a set of mountain ranges, running from north to south. In between these mountain ridges is located the region of Kham “where the intense blueness of space contrasts sharply with the deep green of eastern Tibet’s rolling grasslands with its expanses of barren rock”. ( Matthieu Ricard)..

These rugged and remote lands are inhabited by the Khampas: Tibetan nomadic and semi nomadic populations.

“Nomad’s Land” memorializes several unique aspects of the daily lives of these native Tibetan populations while providing a glimpse into a Tibetan culture that is desperately trying to preserve its authenticity despite the major upheavals that are shaking the lands of its birth.
